An Unforgetable Evening

Image
It was the most memorable evening of my life, perhaps the best I have till date. It is something I have always thought of being a part of. My eyes suddenly filled with joy when I saw a small advertisement in the newspaper(' Bombay Times ') about the concert of Padmabhushan Jagjit Singh Saheb in Vishnudas Bhave Natyagraheya-Vashi. I was en-thrilled at seeing the venue. Mumbai hosts numerous concerts of numerous people around the year but it was something different. It was in Vashi-a place where I resides. The venue also has a special significance in my life. When I joined Larsen & Toubro Infotech in 2007, it is this place where I had my induction function. It becomes the gateway for me of my transition from campus to company. Although Jagjit Singh Ji was my favorite since childhood as I was amongst a few 'T aare Zamin Par ' kinds who had a bechpan without comics and toys but I have grown up listening Jagjit Singh and Kavi Pradeep . An urge started within me when...

Avatar-A movie by the God

Image
Avatar-A Hollywood production and directed by non other than James Cameron- the GOD of film making industry. This movie is made for every genre and anyone can enjoy the 2154AD experience. Alike anyone it makes me think how the writer can write such a story? What is his level of imagination? What is his level of intelligence? How can he visualize the faces of his characters? How he'll be able to create the world which is not known, to such the level of perfections? How he gets feeling of making less-humans the super-humans? The answer to all my questions is the word GOD. When we heard of something unusual or beyond our ways, we say it is the creation of God. Similarly this movie is beyond our ways and is created by the GOD himself. It is created by 'THE JAMES CAMERON'. He is the God of film making. It is not about the characters and technology. It is about the vision. It is about the limitless boundaries of our imagination. This is an epic which makes us see the future. The ...

Incredible India - Through the eyes of a train journey

Image
I am a frequent traveler of 'Indian Railways'. Though I sail mostly in 'Mumbai Local' and Delhi bound EMUs, my long route journey is between Delhi-Mumbai. It used to be the misconception that there is a change of genre in trains like 'Mumbai Rajdhani', 'Garib Rath' and 'Locals'. I even used to believe this a few years ago, but due to my frequent commuting and reading all the big named trains from inside I find it a false impression. The people remains the same, however there body language changes as they find a little more space in 'Rajdhanis' and 'Garib Raths'. Scene I: EMU from Palwal to New Delhi. This journey is always an eye-opener to me as it reminds me of the real land I belongs. The Mumbai Khumari I used to take away with me vanishes in this one hour long journey. Getting the ticket from the counter feels like winning a war, the very free type people waits for hours outside the window roaming but only make the queue 5mins...

A beautiful, soulful poem by the legendary poet of Haryana-Kavi Narsingh

Mile Na Phool To...

Penned by Kaifi Azmi, this song from the 1968 movie Anokhi Raat goes much deeper than just being about lost love! Rather than being sad I see this as an expression of rebellious, ‘will do no matter what’ attitude of the poet. Specially the line ‘khuda tarash liya’ which I very pitifully translate into – I sculpted my own god and I now pray to ...

Choosing a Direction

Image
Choosing a Direction We all are in the continuous process of finding the correct directions in life. Even before our birth, our parents were worried about our future. Since the day of our coming into existence, an infinite ocean of learning's stared engulfing us. Firstly it was a language of touch, Sign, Eyes. Then to words. A parrot training and then from Play schools to formal school education. It was our parents who gave us the directions initially. A direction to School. A direction to the school bus. A direction to playing lawn. A direction to the food, clothes etc. Then the teachers start directing us. Direction to class. Direction to the desk. Direction to the text on book. etc. Then comes direction to the marks, direction to the highest marks(scored by someone else). By this time we are so much direction-aliased that we ourselves start finding directions. Direction to the board exams. Direction to Science\Commerce\Arts. Then Direction to dream about IIT\CPMT. Direction to co...

Palwal Darshan

Palwal is a small district in Haryana with a big geographical importance. It is located at 60km from Delhi towards south,30Km from Faridabad,50 Km from Gurgaon,90 km from Mathura and it is entirely located on NH2,well connected via Road and Rail. Here are some extracts from the region which will bring out true humor and make you laugh out loud. " Bol Bansi Vale ki Jai....Deh Pola "- is the first sentence you'll hear if you dare try to talk to a Palwal local boy.. Due courtesy goes to its being nearer to the Brij Bhoomi(Mathura) and Lord Krishna is the deity the local people worship. Hence the name 'Bansi Wale' which is the synonym of Krishna. Next if you travel in the EMU from Palwal to New Delhi, and if you dare ask for the seat. The reply would be: " Mamma, khado reh, banao toye TT ".... Every third person in Palwal is the relative of the Local sitting MLA. When ever a police man catches some one notorious, the first thing he utters is:" Ruk ja, c...

A masterpiece by Shri Gopal Das Neeraj Ji.

Camouflage of feelings

We all have come across some special people in our lives to whom we have developed some special relationship and bonding. Although we had that extra punch of feelings for them at a moment of time, we pretend as if its nothing. The same has been seen with the ones who are no more a part of our lives i.e the broken relationships or Ex. To these people with whom we don't have any 'SPECIAL' bondage now, we pretend as if we don't care, but interestingly we remain concerned still about how there life functions and what do they do. If asked about them we used to get away with the topic or ignore as if we don't know what is being talked about... Here are some interesting true stories of the people I know - Their deeds and excuses. Episode 1: There is this boy in my college who is a tomboy kinda person and his persona became so polished by some divine powers for the period of 4 years that during his tenure in the college he had a crush in every year and luckily every girl kn...

Inside IT

I'll take you a little back in 2007, (The senario is from a remote college where the campus placements are not common and students have to manage the jobs by themselves ) It was the time when we were about to complete our BE and were filled with enthusiasm. We had the fire in our belly. All we used to fancy was to join the leading MNCs of India. Infosys, TCS, L&T Infotech, Satyam, Tech Mahindra, HCL, IBM were the top names we knew. Although we were from ECE, IT was the first choice. It was the time when we used to mug up those pioneer books by R S Agrawal and Shakuntala Devi. The C programs and their outputs used to be lingo. The pet communication example: Varun (to Virender): Yaar, pls give me the notes of Mobile. Virender : (no Answer) Varun(again): Yaar Virender, pls give me the notes of Mobile. Virender : (still ananswered) Varun: Virender, for(i=0;i=100;i++) { pls give me the notes of Mobile. } Then ...
